Judy Quest, a
talented, award-winning artist, resides in Punta Gorda, Florida, where she pursues her love for art. Her
inspiration, derived from within herself as well as the world around her,
can be seen in her work with oil and watercolors.
Striving to create a memorable painting that makes a strong
emotional impact, Judy blends layers of colors, adding subtle textures and
details. It is her attention to detail, as well as use of color and
contrast, that create a sense of mood and drama, making her paintings
distinctive.
Retiring from teaching in the year 2000, Judy began painting
full-time. Having received her early training from Skidmore College in
Saratoga Springs, New York, she continues her professional growth by
participating in workshops with artists whose work she admires.
Her very earliest inspiration came from her grandmother, Minna Anthony
Common, a self-taught artist and naturalist. A nature center and state
park has been named after her on Wesley Island in northern New York State.
Further inspiration and early training was received from her Aunt,
Catherine Johnson, a well-known, award-winning watercolorist, also in
northern New York.
She believes that artistic talent evolves from the inner creative self
and progressive enhancement of artistic skills from painting.
