Jane
Barthelemy, Oregon jewelry designer, creates colorful necklaces, earrings,
bracelets and pendants in contemporary, innovative, multi-layered glass
designs. Jane infuses the finest of old-world craftsmanship with eclectic,
energized and modern style.
Jane’s exclusive lamp beads are made entirely by hand over a single
flame. Many of the beads have an internal layer of 24k gold or sterling
silver, which adds luminosity to the transparent colors
Originally from Boston, Jane lived in Italy where she sang as a
prima donna in Italian opera theaters. While living and singing in Venice,
she fell in love with glass, and learned to make handmade lamp work beads.
She frequently created beads and jewelry to wear for her own performances
on stage.
Playing with color and light, Jane creates her glass jewelry in
sumptuous hues and forms using a wide variety of bead lampworking
techniques. She enjoys sharing her passion for love and for life with her
galleries and customers through the use of color and light in her designs.
Jane keeps a busy travel schedule, buying materials and developing
her exclusive glass bead designs. She works constantly to develop new
techniques and maintain the highest quality standards. "I sometimes make a
prototype bead, or we discuss the features of a new bead design using
crayon drawings. After several experimental trials, we allow the bead to
cool and it's true colors appear. The final result is often a complete
surprise, and often more beautiful than what I originally envisioned".
Pursuing her passion for color, Jane is an active member of CAUS,
the Color Association of the USA in New York. She studies all fashion
colors forecasts each season, carefully sculpting the color statement of
her collections in view of America’s changing women’s fashions and color
preferences. “ I love the process of making a completely new color
statement each year. I usually introduce one dominant new color each
season. At the same time I look for unusual ways to combine two or more
colors to create a fresh vibration which enhances fashion fabrics and is
stimulating to the person wearing it.”
