Jan
Fetters has been painting in watercolor, oils and acrylics for over twenty
years. Since retiring to Florida in 1992, she has devoted fill-time to
studying, teaching and painting. Although mostly self-taught, she has
studied with internationally known artists Frank Webb, Chen Khee Chee, Rose
Edin, Jan Kunz, Arleta Pech and others. Since 2005 she has been invited to
study at Lakeside, Ohio with the Fred Graff Lakeside Painters. She is a
member of Cider Painters of America, the Miniature Art Society of Florida
and is an Associate Member of the Florida Watercolor Society.In October 2006 Jan studied for two weeks at the Romita Art School in Terni, Italy, a few hours north of Rome. Each day was spent exploring, sketching and painting in the quaint villages of the area. She took over 1,100 photographs from which she is currently painting. Jan has become best known for her garden scenes, plant life and historical buildings. She favors loosely painted bright colorful statements. Her oil paintings are Impressionistic in style. An award winning artist, she recently won “Best of Show” at the Sebring, Florida Art Festival. She was awarded the 2006 Helen Aufford Award at the Lake Wales Art Festival and has numerous First Place Awards. She has had several one-woman shows to her credit and conducts workshops throughout the Central Florida area.
