Artist
Dorene Butler of Lakeland Florida; born in Okeechobee Florida, has shown
her love of nature through painting, drawing and poems. She comes from a
large family of artists. As an adult she has decided to follow the
direction of her father, world famous Wildlife & Landscape artist Robert
Butler. Dorene has
participated in fund-raising events for both civic and conservation
organizations such as SPCA, March of Dimes, Big Brothers and Big Sisters,
NWTF, Safari Club, PCBA, Buck master and Campfire USA and CCA and the
Green Horizon, to name a few. She has helped raise substantial funds by
creating original art on-site and donating proceeds to the cause.
Her work has been on exhibit at Bok Tower Gardens in
Lake Wales (family exhibit), the Frame Shoppe in Lakeland Fl, and rin
2001, her work was a part of a family exhibit at the Appleton museum
in Ocala, Fl during a Highwaymen exhibit/film documentary. She and her
family participated in an Exhibit honoring her Father at the South Florida
Community College Museum, in honor of the College's 40th Anniversary.
Miss Butler's paintings are also part of private
compilations of a growing number of collectors. Along with all these
opportunities she also gives art instruction throughout Florida to various
groups.
She is available for lecture demonstrations at schools
and civic or conservation organizations.
Last year she was part of the lectures on the
"Highwaymen" by Jim Fitch there again painting on site as he elaborated on
the history and present phenomenon of this treasure of fine artists.
Dorene intends to travel the South and other places of
interest, just as her father did. She will be painting, photographing,
meeting the people and writing about many aspects of her encounters.
One of her underlying goals is to share her love and
appreciation of the great "Florida" outdoors with others.
