Charlie NeSmith is a Florida native, born in Ft. Lauderdale. He discovered his passion for art at the age of 13 with the joy of seeing his acrylic mountain-scape, hung in his grandmother’s home.
A mostly self-taught artist, his work began on a huge scale, painting murals in friends’ homes and billboards, including a large Indian head on I-4 in central Florida.
He and his wife DD relocated to Frostproof, Florida in the early eighties where he started his own building maintenance business and became active in the art league.
A trip to Key West stimulated his interest in painting miniatures. In the past 15 years, interest in miniature painting has captured a large group of enthusiasts. Miniature painting has a rich history, predating photography. This challenging and rewarding type of art is his major focus now, and he enjoys drawing people into the world of the miniature. The miniature painting is a mere 2”x3”, but filled with stunning detail. He has worked in pen and ink, watercolor, and most recently in acrylic gouache.
An award-winning artist, Charlie currently is President of the Frostproof Art League where he also teaches classes. Charlie assisted the LK Artworks Gallery artists who painted a 1920’s themed mural at 119 West Center Avenue in the Sebring, Florida Historic District.

"We have always enjoyed the Sebring Historic District and have spent many happy hours on the circle. I am excited to be a part of LK Gallery and plan to spend many happy hours painting miniatures in Sebring as I continue to grow as an artist."
