This acrylic series of paintings takes inspiration from nature in the most organic sense. Actual leaves, fronds and flowers of the plant are used to create monoprint, batik-like images in the acrylic paint.

The use of found objects, textures and metallic paints compliments the organic shapes and prints of the plant materials.

These first paintings utilize found objects from my Florida backyard!

Artist Statement:
Working in acrylics has released me from the confines of my past art creations--the constraints of computer graphics, calligraphy and the rigidity of pen and ink renderings. I love to use paints with added mica, and metallics.  I have a 20-year background in computer graphics, and I still design many of my wallpapers and designs on the computer.
This new series reflects my love of nature and experimentation with a more subdued color palette.
I add the Latin name in calligraphy as part of the design of each piece. Some have added yarns, wood and handmade papers that add to the feeling of the piece.
