The artist's statement:
"
Watercolors, as a free flowing fluid, never ceases to excite me. The interplay between what I think I want to paint and what the paint actually does as it touches the wet surface of the paper, becomes a dance of creativity between us...always changing with the rhythm of each new work."

An award-winning artist from the Chicago area. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, she also attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Oxbow summer residency program, workshops in Paris, France, and many workshops over the years by well-respected artists. .

Barbara has been painting, teaching and exhibiting her work for over 30 years. She founded "Studio 2909" that meets and exhibits in the Chicago area and was the Chairperson for 'Women's Works" a National Juried Show for 3 years. She is represented by three galleries in Chicago area, and was in a group exhibit at the 2002 Chicago Cultural Center, Renaissance Court Gallery.

Moving to Punta Gorda in 2000 she has been in juried shows at the Art Center of Sarasota, Venice Art Center, Charlotte County Visual Art Center in Punta Gorda, Alliance for the Arts in Ft. Myers and Big Art in Sanibel. Awards at Women Contemporary Art (WCA) and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society (FSWA).

Juried into statewide Florida competition with over 300 entries, her painting was one of the 40 selected in the "20/30" shows, 2001 and 2002. Also in 2002, she was juried into the National Art Exhibit sponsored by the Charlotte County Art Guild, Visual Art Center. One of 4 featured artist in Goff Gallery at the Visual Art Center. The Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County, 2 person show in 2001 and featured one person artist for Dec.2002. Barbara currently teaches watercolors at the Charlotte County Visual Art Center and is a member of Sea Grape Gallery, both in Punta Gorda.
